Heaven & Hell part I: Are we obsessed by hell ?

Rob Bell’s book “Love Wins”, published in March, generated the latest flurry of books, blog entries, sermons and podcasts about heaven, hell and the afterlife. This prompted me to dive into this subject and see what we can glean from the current writings of theological scholars and pastors out there and compare that with Scripture and our Christian traditions. I can look, but not touch … and other utter rubbish

“I can look as long as I don’t touch” is actually “utter rubbish” for Christian men. As men in the workplace, all of us have undoubtedly heard that statement at one time or another. Or hanging out with friends, we have heard and seen the googly eyes following the eye candy walking around. And the statements come such as the one above. Or my favorite one: “It’s not because I’m on a diet that I can’t look at the menu”. How do these statements fit within our Christian lifestyle ? Is it ok to look but just not ok to act on it ?
