My pastor’s a sinner
Last Sunday we confirmed a new lead pastor at our Church. My wife and I have been a part of this particular Body for quite a while and we were overjoyed that a long and painful chapter finally came to a close. We have a new pastor ! This is exciting news. He will for sure propel this Church to a new level, new initiatives, new heights. A new drive and vigor will permeate our Church and it will be the best thing ever ! After all, he is a great guy, caring, dynamic and an overall solid person. Or so I thought. Continue reading

Do you love your Church ?
Note here that what I am asking is not whether you love the worship style, or the teaching or the dress code, atmosphere, programs or even the senior pastor. I am also not asking whether you love going to church. I am asking whether you love your Church ? What IS the Church ? And how do you love it ? Continue reading
Going vs Belonging
Don’t just go to Church. I’m serious. I’m telling you to not just go to church. I’m asking you if you belong in Church.
We all go places. We go visit others, we go to events, concerts or dinners. But going somewhere doesn’t mean you belong to the group you’re going to. As Christians shouldn’t “go” to Church. But we do “belong” in Church. So what is the difference between going and belonging ? Continue reading
Have we lost our flavor ?
Salt. The wonderful, almost mystical item. Added in moderation, it enhances the flavor of the food it is added to. Without things, according to those on a salt-free diet, things taste bland. Add too much, things become inedible. Used rightly, it can preserve things. As Christians, we are being called to be the salt of the earth. Enhance the things around us, preserve the things around us. And not be so invasive that we make things distasteful. But are we really doing that ? Am I really doing that ? And if we are, how does it show? Continue reading
Jesus was just a good teacher… and other utter rubbish
Was Jesus just a good teacher or was there more ? Many articles already exist using Christs “I am God” statements as defense. This is a bit of a different approach, using his life and other teachings as arguments. Continue reading
Heaven & Hell Part IV (final): So what ?
How should a doctrine of heaven and hell impact us in our daily Christian life ? What is our hope based on the saving grace of God and how do we show, share and demonstrate that hope in such a way that others are anxious to join us in that hope. Continue reading
Heaven & Hell Part II: What do they look like ?
In the second part of this little series about heaven and hell, let’s have a look at what we are being told they look like. What should we think of hell? Are there lakes of fire? Are there worms? Desolation? … Continue reading

I can look, but not touch … and other utter rubbish
“I can look as long as I don’t touch” is actually “utter rubbish” for Christian men. As men in the workplace, all of us have undoubtedly heard that statement at one time or another. Or hanging out with friends, we have heard and seen the googly eyes following the eye candy walking around. And the statements come such as the one above. Or my favorite one: “It’s not because I’m on a diet that I can’t look at the menu”. How do these statements fit within our Christian lifestyle ? Is it ok to look but just not ok to act on it ? Continue reading
The community of the Saints: Here & Now or There & Then ?
How being a member of a solid Christian community and fellowship helped us during some difficult times. Proof that the community of the saints is alive and well, right here, right now Continue reading

Are there good reasons to leave a Church ?
As events throw a Church body into upheaval, people inevitably start leaving the congregation. No different with our Church body which, as I posted here, is going through some difficult transitions right now. Considering I had some recent conversations with several brothers that are either contemplating leaving or have already made the, undoubtedly difficult, decision to leave, I started to think about what the Scriptures may have to say about leaving a church fellowship. Continue reading
